Mom and Baby Changes
Mom: At 31 weeks pregnant you will notice that your appetite will increase as your baby requires more nutrients. At the same time, you will notice an increase in weight, for both you and your baby. If you have taken a balanced diet and your doctor is not worried about your weight, then you should not worry either.
Some women are concerned about weight gain because they think it will be very difficult to return to her figure before pregnancy.
You should not worry about weight gain because there is a reason that is worth it “your baby”. Pregnancy is a very exciting time for every woman and should be considered as the most important in her life.
Keep in mind that there are many things to do to return to your previous weight before pregnancy.
At 31 weeks pregnant your energy levels and stamina may be affected by weight gain. It is very important that you practice some exercise to increase your stamina and keep your energy levels up. Also remember that you must rest everyday to recover your energy, an afternoon nap is very healthy.
Baby: Your baby’s brain goes through a rapid development and he/she can move his/her head from side to side.
Your baby’s fingernails are almost finished. So remember to buy a nail clipper and put it in your maternity bag because you will use it soon.
Your baby sleeps most of the time and when he/she wakes up you will notice.
The length of your baby is around 29 cm (11.4 inches) and its weight is about 1700-1800 grams ( 3.75-4 pounds).
Dad: At pregnancy week 31, your partner may be suffering from aches. You must pamper her and give her some massages. She deserves it after 31 weeks of pregnancy.
Remember that your partner needs you. You may be very busy working all day but at nights help her relax by rubbing her back and feet.
My own experience at 31 weeks pregnant:
At 31 weeks pregnant I was still working. Mexican laws give pregnant moms one month and a half for maternity leave before and after childbirth, in total 3 months. I worked 8 hours daily, and at the end of the day I was a little tired, but generally I felt good. So I asked my boss to let me work till a month before childbirth in order to have two months with my baby at home, but he didn’t want to as it could have lawsuits. So I waited till week 35 to go home for a deserved rest.
At 30 weeks pregnant I began to prepare the list of all the things needed for maternity leave, including childbirth and postpartum. I did a lot of research in the internet and I came up with this newborn checklist.
